The Polyglot Turns Ten: Community Potluck & Poetry Gathering

Join us as we celebrate ten years of The Polyglot with an afternoon of food, poetry, and multilingual conversation in the beautiful newly renovated Hawrelak Park.

For the past decade, The Polyglot has been shaped by hundreds of writers, artists, translators, educators, and readers from around the world. This gathering is a chance to come together, reconnect, and celebrate the grassroots, volunteer Edmonton community that has made these ten years possible.

Date: Sunday, August 16
Time: 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p. m.
Location: Hawrelak Park, Picnic Site #2 (canopied, wheelchair-accessible, parking on site)

Please bring:

  • A small dish to share

  • A poem

The poem can be your own or someone else's (perhaps something you, or another writer, published in The Polyglot, or a new piece you've been working on). You are welcome to read it aloud during an informal poetry circle, or copy it out by hand and exchange it with another guest as a small gift.

We'll also have copies of The Polyglot magazine and our chapbooks available for purchase (cash or e-transfer). If you would like to sell copies of books, chapbooks, merch, etc. please let us know in the form below

Whether you've published with The Polyglot, attended one of our events, volunteered, or simply cheered us on over the years, we'd love to celebrate this miraculous milestone with you.

We hope you'll join us.
